Operating environment

We operate in an open competitive environment. The maintenance and development of Finland’s state-owned railway network is the responsibility of the Finnish Rail Administration, an agency coming under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, which subjects all railway maintenance work to competitive tendering. Rail safety matters and the administration are the responsibility of the Finnish Rail Agency.

Our competitiveness is based on two factors – unrivalled expertise and specialist machinery, both of which are constantly being improved. Our business volumes, personnel resources and equipment are in accordance with market needs.

Even though our operations require special expertise in a number of technical fields, the crucial challenge is to put the sectors together and to understand railway operations as a total concept. We know how to plan and put our projects into practice so that traffic flows safely and smoothly round the clock.
