Track maintenance is based on track inspection results. Our decades long experience in this sector has yielded us an expertise and knowhow of top international quality.
The technological development in the field of track inspection is rapid. Starting from 2000 we have modernized our track inspection system and the corresponding technologies adopted. Our knowhow includes not only the implementation of existing technologies but also the planning and design of new technologies and systems used in the inspection cars. In fact our localization system and the relevant reports produced feature the greatest accuracy so far in the world.
To secure our top position in the rapid development we continuously invest in the vehicle fleet and the equipment. Among our new inspection cars, EMMA was introduced into service in 2003 and ELLI in 2007. As a result of the implementation of state-of-the-art technologies, both work efficiency and the accuracy of the performances have continuously improved. Today the highest measuring speeds exceed 200km/h.
Traffic safety and the anticipation of maintenance and repair needs necessarily require track inspection to be a continuous uninterrupted process. The entire rail network is inspected at least twice a year and the sections operated at the highest speeds, every two months.
